Editorial Reviews
The enormity of HBO's Emmy-winning miniseries Band of Brothers was overshadowed in the weeks after September 11, 2001, when it completed its miniseries run. A little distance and a stunningly packaged five-DVD set help cast in new light this take on Stephen E. Ambrose's bestseller about Easy Company's incredible journey through World War II. The filmmaking is often visceral, yet the extended format allows the ensemble cast to grow, and the sacrifices of these heroic soldiers become palpable. The vivid drama doesn't let up in the extras here, as tales of struggle and redemption abound in "We Stand Alone Together: The Men of Easy Company" -- the best of the DVD's multiple documentaries. It's all heartrending stuff
